ST. LOUIS – Illinois State senior outside hitter Ashley Rosch has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Rosch continued her streak of stellar play with another strong week of performances on the court, as she led Illinois State to a 3-1 record and a second-place showing at the Dayton Flyer Invitational over the past week.
Rosch tallied 71 kills (4.18 per set) and 51 digs (3.00 per set) over the four-match stretch, along with five aces and 11 blocks. She led Illinois State in kills at all three of the Redbirds' matches at the Flyer Invitational, including a five-set win over Jacksonville, in which she set a new career high with 27 kills.
A native of Fox River Grove, Illinois, Rosch currently ranks third in the Valley in both kills (3.84 per set) and points (4.38 per set) this season.
The MVC Offensive Player of the Week honor is the second for Rosch this season. She previously earned the recognition on Sept. 8.
Rosch and the Redbirds are back in action this weekend in their first Missouri Valley Conference matches of the year, as Illinois State will travel to Missouri State Friday and Wichita State Saturday. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN3.
