Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Compete at Notre Dame

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's cross country teams travel to South Bend, Indiana to compete Friday in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. ISU will compete in the elite race set to start with the women's 5,000-meter at 2 p.m. and the men's five mile following at 2:45 p.m.

The Joe Paine Notre Dame Invitational features teams from eight out of the nine U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regions. The women will be competing against 24 teams, one being New Mexico who is ranked No. 1 in the nation. Along with New Mexico, there are two teams that are currently ranked No.1 in their respective regions according to the USTFCCCA. They are Vanderbilt (South Region) and NC State (Southeast Region). Most of the 24 teams are ranked in the top-15 of the USTFCCA regional rankings, with many ranking in the top-10.

On the men's side, all 24 teams are ranked in the top-15 in the USTFCCCA regional rankings. ISU will be competing against the 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Champions, Indiana State. Competing against these teams can help ISU gain points going into Pre-NCAA, which is on Oct. 17.
