NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State volleyball team announced its team award winners at its postseason team dinner at Hancock Stadium Club last month, following the team's 2015 season.
Ashley Rosch, Kaitlyn Hunt, Ali Line and Jacqueline Twing were among the award winners recognized at the banquet.
Rosch was named the Linda Herman Most Valuable Player after finishing her standout collegiate career. Rosch became the first player in program history – and just the fifth in Missouri Valley Conference history – to earn first-team all-conference status all four years of her career. An American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region honorable mention selection, Rosch ended her career as the program leader in attempts, while also ranking in the top 10 in school history in career kills, points and digs.
Twing earned the Kristin Kueltzo Inspiration Award in her first season as a member of the Illinois State volleyball team. A junior transfer, Twing led the Redbirds in assists and assists per set. She also earned MVC Scholar-Athlete First-Team honors.
Hunt was named the team's most improved player following her first season as a Redbird. Another junior transfer, Hunt played only sparingly early in the season, but finished the year appearing in 13 of the team's final 14 contests, with four starting assignments. At one point late in the season, she set a new career high in digs in four-consecutive matches.
Line earned the Kelly Meisner Courage Award after being named the Valley's Freshman of the Year. Line led all MVC freshmen in hitting percentage, while ranking second on her team in blocks and blocks per set. Line played some of her best volleyball late, as her numbers in conference play topped her already-stellar stat line from the non-conference season.
The 2015 Illinois State volleyball team posted an overall record of 22-10.
