Redbirds Bring It Home For Quad-Meet

NORMAL, Ill. – After a big win for the on the road against Southeast Missouri State last weekend, the Illinois State gymnastics team returns home for a quad meet against Michigan State, Wisconsin-Stout and Western Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 28, beginning at 2 p.m. inside Horton Field House.

"We are looking forward to facing another weekend of strong competition with Michigan State, Western Michigan and Wisconsin Stout," ISU head coach Bob Conkling said. "It's always exciting to have a home quad meet, with non-stop gymnastics action on all four events throughout the entire competition. The team is continually improving and has focused on perfecting their routines this week in workouts." 

The Redbirds finished first in last Friday's dual-meet against SEMO, posting a team score of 193.850, their second-highest score so far of the season.
 
Senior Amanda Mohler ended the meet with two first-place finishes, which earned her Midwest Independent Conference Specialist of the Week honors for the fourth time this season. She took the top spot on the beam with a 9.850 and placed first on bars with a score of 9.800. Freshman Meredith LaRoche also added to the winning effort by coming in second in the all-round with a score of 38.900. LaRoche tied for second on vault with a 9.725, scored a 9.675 on bars, a 9.700 on beam and tied first on floor with a 9.800.

Sunday's meet will be streamed live on GoRedbirds.com via RedbirdHD.tv and fans can follow live action via the Redbird Gymnastics twitter feed. The Redbirds welcome all gymnastics club members and their families to the meet Sunday, and kids are invited to attend an autograph session post meet with the Redbird gymnasts.
