NORMAL, Ill. – Over the past two nights, a large group of Illinois State student-athletes participated in a "Thank-A-Thon" to show their gratitude to Weisbecker Scholarship Fund donors for their support of ISU Athletics and their scholarships.
The two-night event took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19-20, and each evening was divided into two sessions. Â Student-athletes from various Redbird programs either spent time hand writing thank you notes to donors or making phone calls to a separate list of donors. A total of 60 Redbird student-athletes volunteered their time, made nearly 200 phone calls and wrote over 450 notes to donors and all enjoyed learning more about the WSF and what it does to support them.Â
"The Thank-A-Thon is such a great way to connect our student-athletes to some of our generous Weisbecker Scholarship Fund members," ISU Director of Annual Giving Sean Johnson said. "Without our WSF donors, we wouldn't be able to provide our student-athletes with a championship experience in the classroom and in competition at ISU. The Thank-A-Thon provides our student-athletes the platform to connect with our donors and thank them for making an impact in their lives. It's a great event and something we think both our student-athletes and our donors enjoy."
