Redbirds Host Bradley in Midweek Doubleheader

LIVE AUDIO | LIVE VIDEO | LIVE STATS

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State softball team will begin a busy week Tuesday when it hosts Bradley for a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader. The Redbirds are fresh off of a pair of wins at Loyola last weekend, but will try to avenge a 5-3 loss to the Braves last Thursday.

After a tough week two weeks ago, the middle of ISU's lineup bounced back in four games last week. Regan Romshek, Jordan de los Reyes and Riley Strandgard combined to go 19-for-43 for the week, and each player had at least five hits. All three players drove in at least three runs as well.

Shannon Felde was at it again as well, leading Illinois State in batting average. Felde hit .500 (5-for-10) and scored four runs in four games. She closed the weekend with a 2-for-2 performance at Loyola Sunday and accumulated an on-base percentage of .583. Felde drove in one run and also stole a base.

While the Redbirds have lacked production up and down the lineup at times this season, ISU hit .322 as a team over the course of four games last week. Nine different Redbirds recorded a hit and eight players had multiple hits.

First pitch Tuesday is set for 3 p.m. with game two to follow at approximately 5 p.m.

Series History

Illinois State owns a 62-18 record all-time against the Bradley Braves. Bradley won the first game of this season by a score of 5-3. The series began in 1983, and Bradley won four of the first six games. Most recently, Illinois State has gone 35-6 since the new millennium, including a 3-1 mark last season. ISU knocked Bradley out of last year's MVC Tournament with an 11-7 victory in the opening round.
