Weisbecker Scholarship Fund Hosts 110% Event

NORMAL, Ill. – As a way to say "thank you" to Weisbecker Scholarship Fund (WSF) donors who increased their annual fund support by 10 percent or more in 2016, ISU Athletics and the WSF hosted the first-ever "110% Event" in the Hancock Stadium Club Wednesday night before the Redbird men's basketball game against Indiana State.

A group of 70 WSF donors were able to sit and talk with Redbird student-athletes to hear about how their donation directly impacts their lives. Illinois State Director of Athletics Larry Lyons gave a short address on the past year's success of the department, both in competition and in the classroom, and thanked all the donors in attendance for their support of the scholarship fund.

"We're really happy with how the first ever 110% Event turned out," ISU Director of Annual Giving Sean Johnson said. "We're excited that this incredibly generous group of donors was able to connect with our student-athletes and hear how beneficial their annual fund support is. We're looking forward to continuing to offer great opportunities in the future to our donors to interact with student-athletes and see where their donation is going and how important it is to our department."

The Weisbecker Scholarship Fund is the fundraising arm of the Illinois State Athletic Department. The WSF is an annual fund which covers the cost of scholarships for over 400 Redbird student-athletes. Over the course of the last two years, the WSF has reached new heights, including signing up over 700 new members and receiving over 560 increased donations from current donors.
