Redbirds Fall in Second Round of Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Myrtle Beach

CONWAY, S.C. – Three Redbird players scored in double-figures, including a career-high scoring effort from Madison Williams; however, Illinois State fell behind early and could not overcome the early deficit, falling 82-64 to the Boise State Broncos.

How It Happened


Illinois State struck first in the game with a Milik Yarbrough mid-lane jumper before Boise State scored the next seven points, kicking off a 17-7 run to take a 17-9 lead five minutes into the contest. Leading 17-10, the Broncos ran off a 14-1 run to push ahead to a 21-point lead, as Boise State took a 46-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The second half lead grew to as many as 33 with 6:19 to play at 75-42 before the Redbirds dug in their heels and mounted a comeback. The margin was cut to 32 before Illinois State ran off a 17-0 run, climbing back within 15 with 2:12 to play; however, the deficit was too much to overcome in the 82-64 loss.
