CLEARWATER, Fla. – For the seventh consecutive year, the Illinois State softball team visited students at Eisenhower Elementary School on Thursday in Clearwater, Florida.
The Redbirds spoke to 4th and 5th grade girls in Eisenhower's Panda Pearls program about teamwork and leadership while also getting to know each other.

Members of the Illinois State softball team introduced themselves and shared their major in school before beginning with an ice breaker activity.
The Redbirds and Panda Pearls spent the morning completing a team building activity that required groups to build the tallest tower, using only balloons, tape, and straws.

Led by Illinois State's 2017 team captains, the group discussed the importance of communication and using individual group member's strengths to build the tallest tower. At the end of the day, each student received a Redbird softball shirt, a signed team poster and a Redbird postcard.
The Redbirds travel to the Arizona State Littlewood Classic February 17-19 for a five-game tournament in Tempe, Arizona.
