CHARLESON, S.C. – The Illinois State men's tennis team earned one win and one loss in a doubleheader against The Citadel and College of Charleston Tuesday afternoon.
In their first match against The Citadel, ISU captured a 5-1 win. There was no doubles play, however, in singles play ISU earned wins in five out of six matches. Urh Krajnc Domiter defeated Michael Anzalone, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. Dylan Steffens beat Matthew Henson, 6-3, 6-4. Andreas Boers topped Willem van Zyl, 6-1, 6-2. Matias Chomali defeated Noah Nawabi, 7-6, 5-7,11-9. Egehan Sertkaya beat Roy Hobson, 6-0, 6-2. Peter Foersom fell to Trey Davis, 6-2, 6-3.
Later in the day, ISU fell to College of Charleston, 5-2. College of Charleston claimed the doubles point as the pair of Krajnc Domiter and Chomali fell to Juan Estevarena and Vasily Kichigin, 7-6. Steffens and Foersom were defeated by Benedikt Henning and Alec Angradi, 6-2. Boers and Sertkaya beat _______ and Rodrigo Encinas, 6-2.
In singles play, Chomali defeated Ryan Khan, 6-2, 6-2. Boers topped Vasily Kichigin, 7-6, 6-4. Krajnc Domiter fell to Juan Estevarena, 6-4, 6-1. Steffens fell to Benedikt Henning, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Sertkaya was defeated by Rodrigo Encinas, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Foersom was topped by Alec Angradi, 6-0, 6-2.
