Felde Earns CoSIDA Academic First Team All-District Honor

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Boasting the nation's best strikeout percentage, Shannon Felde has been named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Softball Team as announced by the CoSIDA office Thursday. Felde is one of three MVC softball players selected to the District Five team.

Without a strikeout this season, Felde is the toughest person to strikeout in the country, batting .410.  The sophomore owns the second-longest known hitting streak in program history at 21 games (Feb. 10-April 8) with 15 multi-hit games. Felde reached base in 23-consecutive games and ranks second on the team and in the MVC with her average. The sophomore hit her first career home run at Indiana State, in addition to seven extra base hits, to slug .530. The Schaumburg, Illinois native excels off the field as well, sporting a 3.78 GPA as a marketing major.

The Redbirds wrap up regular season play by hosting UNI Saturday and Sunday, with Senior Day to follow.
