ISU Athletics Announces “Redbirds Rising” Campaign Goal and Initiatives

NORMAL, Ill. – Last week, Illinois State University publicly announced Redbirds Rising: The Campaign for Illinois State at a kickoff celebration hosted in Redbird Arena on September 16. The University has set a goal to raise $150 million, the most ambitious fundraising goal in University history. Focusing on the three pillars of scholarship, leadership, and innovation, the resources provided by this campaign will ensure that today's Redbirds and all future Redbirds will benefit from a unique educational experience at Illinois State.

Contributing to the University's Redbirds Rising Campaign, Illinois State Athletics has set a $34 million fundraising goal to help the University achieve the overall goal of $150 million. Through the generous support of many donors, Illinois State Athletics has already surpassed $25 million in gifts and pledges. Donations can be made to the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund, facility improvements, endowed scholarships, sport-specific gifts, and more.

As part of Redbirds Rising, Illinois State Athletics will focus on three areas of improvement through their fundraising. Money raised through the campaign will help ISU Athletics build new and update current facilities, grow the existing ISU Athletics endowment, and increase the number of donors and season ticket holders involved in ISU Athletics.

"As we embark on this campaign, it is not just our wish to reach our fundraising goal, it is our expectation," ISU Director of Athletics Larry Lyons said. "As we move into the future of ISU Athletics, now is the time to join the WSF, to support a facility improvement, or to talk about endowing a scholarship.  Support from everyone in the Redbird community will be critical in us reaching our goal and making sure ISU Athletics continues to excel."
