Illinois State Falls to Hot-Shooting Bulldogs 87-62

DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake made 15-of-30 shots from long range, including 8-of-16 in the second half, as the host Bulldogs ran away from the Illinois State Redbirds on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened


Drake scored the first five points of the game, and led by six at 8-2 before the Redbirds started a comeback, scoring seven straight and taking a one-point lead on a Keyshawn Evans three-pointer with 14:23 to play in the half. The hosts responded with an 8-0 run, and never trailed again in the contest. The Illinois State first half deficit grew to as many as 14, when the Bulldogs converted on a lay-in with just over a minute left in the half, taking a 40-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Redbirds would only get as close as 12 in the second half, as Drake ran away with the 25-point victory.
