Redbirds Ready for First Dual at Indiana State

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State swimming and diving team will travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, this Friday to compete against Missouri Valley Conference rival Indiana State. The meet is due to start at 5 p.m. CT.

This is the first meet against outside competition for the Redbirds, after hosting their Red vs. White meet on September 29, where the red team captured the win by a score of 147-144.

"We are very excited to get the season started against a very good MVC opponent," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "The team has been putting in a lot of great work and we are looking forward to seeing the girls get on the boards and in the pool to compete. I'm excited to see what we can do."

"We are looking forward to our first dual meet of the 2018-19 season against a very strong team," Hoffman added. "Since many of their divers are new it will be a chance for us to get a look and compete against them early on, as we prepare for our ultimate goal of improving in the Missouri Valley Conference."

The Redbirds will remain on the road for another conference dual next weekend. Illinois State is set to face Southern Illinois at 1 p.m. on Oct. 20.
