NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Women's Golf team will face Missouri Valley teams this week at the MVC Preview in Chesterton, Indiana, hosted by Valparaiso.
The five women representing Illinois State at the MVC Preview are Senior Caitlin Sims, juniors Becca Black, Paige Seiser, Morgan Savage, and sophomore Emma Sutton.

Format: Two 18-hole rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and continuous play with a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
Competing Teams: Bradley, Illinois State, Indiana State, Loyola, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, UNI, Drake, Valparaiso.
History at the Event: The Redbirds have most recently competed in the MVC Preview in 2016 and 2017, placing ninth and eighth respectively. This tournament is a chance to play alongside teams in the Missouri Valley Conference in the fall before the MVC Championship in the spring.
About the Course: The golfers will play the first nine holes on the Creek course (par-36) and play the back nine on the Marsh course (par-36).
Last Time Out: Two weeks ago, the Redbirds played a season-best single round score of 297 in the first round at the Johnie Imes Invitational. The event was hosted by Missouri and played at the par-72, 6,234 yard Club at Old Hawthorne golf course. The team played a 909 (297-301-311) over the course of three rounds. The women placed ninth in the 13-team field.
Juniors Becca Black and Paige Seiser played a blistering 221 over three rounds to place in a 16th place tie. Black (73-73-75) secured an eagle in the second round and accumulated six birdies. Seiser (74-72-75) played an even par in round two and carded nine birdies overall.
Senior Caitlin Sims carded nine birdies in three rounds, ending the tournament with a 232 (77-75-80). Morgan Savage played a 239 (73-81-85) by scoring an eagle in round one and collecting five birdies throughout. Sophomore Tatum King used a birdie to end with a 251 (86-84-81)
Next Time Out: The Redbirds will close out the fall season at the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate in Evansville, Indiana on Oct. 22-23.
