CHESTERTON, IND. – The Illinois State Women's golf team carded a two-round score of 647 (325-322) at the par-72 MVC Preview in Chesterton, Indiana at the 6,072-yard Sand Creek Country Club.
The team is in third place, five strokes behind Missouri State (324-318), who leads the field after the first day. Bradley is in second place with a 643 (320-323), and a dozen strokes ahead of Southern Illinois (325-334).
"I'm happy with the effort the team displayed today," said Women's golf head coach Breanne Hall. "The conditions were very tough and all scores were higher than normal. We are sitting in a good position and will come out tomorrow looking to move up the leaderboard."
Paige Seiser sits in fourth individually after two rounds. Seiser carded a 6-over-par in each round to reach 154 (78-78). The junior scored a birdie in each round. Becca Black played 10-over-par in each round, putting her in a tie for tenth place. The junior's two-round score is 164 (82-82) after carding a birdie in each round on hole one on the Creek course.
Emma Sutton is on the road for the first time as a Redbird and the sophomore carded a two-round score of 166 (86-80) after accumulating three birdies throughout. Sutton sits in a tie for 15th place going into the third round. Senior Caitlin Sims sits in a tie for 21st place after a 167 (79-88). Sims carded three birdies over two rounds at the MVC Preview.
Morgan Savage picked up three birdies in the second round to play 10-over-par. The junior's two round score is 170 (+26), putting her in a 31st place tie. Tatum King is playing the MVC Preview as an individual this season. King carded a birdie in the second round to bring her two-round score to 173 (90-83).
Next Time Out: The Redbirds will continue action Tuesday at the MVC Preview with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
