Illinois State Takes Weekly MVC Honors for Second Week in a Row

ST. LOUIS – For the second-straight week, Illinois State swept Missouri Valley Conference weekly honors, as Jensen Keck was named the league's Swimmer of the Week and Caroline Lecoeur was given Diver of the Week laurels. The honors mark the third-straight week that a Redbird swimmer has been recognized, and the second-straight week that Lecoeur has been given the distinction.

Keck performed like a champion at Illinois State's double dual against Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis this weekend, capturing three first-place titles, while breaking three pool records. Keck aided the Redbird relay team in capturing a win and breaking a pool record in the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:48.77. Keck also captured two first-place individual titles, as well as pool record titles, in the 100-yard (1:05.72) and the 200-yard (2:25.81) breaststroke.

"I'm very excited for Jensen to be named swimmer of the week," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "She has been putting in a lot of work, racing well and doing everything she can to help the team. She is very deserving and I am excited to see her to continue to improve throughout the season."

Lecoeur was triumphant in her performances at the second double dual of the year, as she captured top-placements in both of her events, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. In both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, Lecoeur earned a score of 280.00, breaking the pool record in the 1-meter dive, while meeting NCAA Zone Qualifications in the event.

"I am very excited for Caroline to receive this award again this week," said head diving coach Phil Hoffmann. "It was one of the best performances I have seen from her in her time at Illinois State. Not only that, but it was a great jumping off point for her moving forward. The best is truly yet to come for Caroline."

Illinois State will be hosting its first regular-season home meet on Saturday, Nov. 3, against Omaha. The meet is due to start at 2:30 p.m. at Horton Pool and is free for all fans. It has also been tabbed "Luau Day," as fans are encouraged to wear their best Hawaiian shirts and beach attire. Leis and sunglasses will be handed out prior to the start of the meet on a first come, first serve basis. The first 70 kids, age 12 and under, will receive a Reggie foam hand to cheer on the Redbirds.
