Normal, Ill. – The Missouri Valley Conference has awarded Illinois State women's gymnast Marie Priest with the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award. Commissioner Doug Elgin has named ten student-athletes as the honorees for the 2017-18 Winter season.
Priest was given the honor for her outstanding academic achievements, as well her strong community involvement. Priest has earned a 3.46 cumulative GPA in her major of exercise science, along with being awarded MIC Academic All-Conference honors. Her community service engagement includes being an SAAC Community Service Coordinator (2017-18), along with her involvement in Recess Buddies, the Susan G. Komen Walk, and the St. Jude Walk.
The Illinois State women's gymnastics team will compete in the Midwest Independent Conference Championship on Friday, March 23, beginning at 6 p.m. in St. Charles, Missouri.
