Illinois State Summer Baseball Update

NORMAL, Ill. – John Rave continues to battle night in and out in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Rave has been off to a great start as a member of the Chatham Anglers, becoming a primary starter. He's helped the team get off to a fast start of 6-4-2, which is good enough for third place. Rave has appeared in 12 games, batting .400/.516/.520 with one home run, five RBIs and one stolen base.

The ISU sophomore is from Bloomington, Illinois. He was second on the Redbirds and fourth in the MVC in batting average, hitting .348 on the year. He led the team with 46 runs, 18 doubles, three triples, seven home runs, and 48 RBIs. He was third in the Conference in total bases (118), fourth in hits, runs scored, and doubles and fifth in RBI's. He committed just two errors in 112 chances in center field en route to his second consecutive All-Defensive Team honor.

Joe Aeilts | Northwoods League | Waterloo Bucks

  • Hitting .196 with three doubles and three RBIs in 18 games.
  • Went 1-4 with a RBI on June 24 at Monkato.

Jack Anderson | Ohio Valley League | Dubois County Bombers

  • Posted a record of 1-0 with a 4.05 ERA in seven games with two starts.
  • Pitched 20 innings, striking out 28 while walking eight.

Jack Bellinger | Chicago Suburban Baseball League | Lombard Orioles

  • Has maintained an unblemished ERA through four games.
  • With six complete innings to his credit, Bellinger has struck out 10 hitters with a 0.50 WHIP.

Jack Butler | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Muskegon Clippers

  • Hitting .282 over 13 games with one double and seven RBIs.
  • Went 1-2 with a pair of RBI's and a run in a 7-5 loss on June 24.

Joe Butler | Northwoods League | Rockford Rivets

  • Hitting .209 in 17 games with three doubles, one home run, and six RBIs.
  • Pitched one inning striking out two in relief.
  • Went 2-5 with an RBI in a 3-2 win on June 21.

Tyler Carpenter | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Muskegon Clippers

  • Batting .250 with a double and three RBIs through eight games.
  • Went 1-3 with a double in a 6-1 loss at Saginaw on June 22.

Justin Diaz | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Grand Lake Mariners

  • Hitting .294 with a home run and two RBIs in six games.
  • Went 1-2 with two walks and a stolen base in a 6-5 win at Cincinnati on June 24.

Jacob Gilmore | Prospect League | Lafayette Aviators

  • Pitched in four games, starting in three with a 0-1 record and a 3.76 ERA.
  • Went four innings, giving up four hits, one run, striking out two and walking four in a 5-2 win over Butler.

Dalton Harvey | Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League | Albany Dutchmen

  • Harvey is 2-0 with a 3.85 ERA over seven innings, striking out nine while walking four.
  • Pitched one inning, striking out one batter in a 5-1 loss at Glens Falls.

Tyson Hays | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Grand Lake Mariners

  • Batting .192 with four RBIs in seven games.
  • Went 1-3 with a run scored in a 6-5 win at Cincinnati on June 24.

Brent Headrick | Northwoods League | Wisconsin Woodchucks

  • Started four games this year with a 1-1 record and a 2.07 ERA spanning 21.2 innings, striking out 28 and walking six.
  • Pitched six innings allowing six hits, two runs, striking out eight and walking one in a no decision versus Madison.

Colton Johnson | Northwoods League | Kenosha Kingfish

  • Started five games, going 2-1 with a 4.87 ERA over 24 innings, striking out 22 and walking 14.
  • Pitched four and one-third innings, allowing 10 hits on six runs, five earned, striking out one and walking three in a loss at Kalamazoo.

Jordan Libman | Prospect League | Lafayette Aviators

  • Hitting .186 with three doubles, a triple, and seven RBIs over 19 games.
  • Went 0-2 with three walks and three runs scored in a 9-8 loss at Quincy on June 24.

Jeff Lindgren | Northwoods League | Bismarck Larks

  • Compiled a 2-1 record with three saves, posting a 1.05 ERA over eight games with one start.
  • Pitched 17 innings with 12 strikeouts and three walks.
  • Went six innings scattering five hits with three strikeouts and one walk in an 11-0 win at Waterloo.

Jake McCaw | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Grand Lake Mariners

  • Batting .276 with three doubles and nine RBIs over nine games.
  • Went 1-4 with a double and two RBIs in a 6-5 win at Cincinnati on June 24.

Braden Niksich  | Prospect League | Kokomo Jackrabbits

  • Appeared in seven games; Holds a 1-0 record with three saves, posting a 5.68 ERA while striking out 10 and walking two.
  • Pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing a run, striking out two and walking one in a 3-2 victory versus Danville on June 20.

Connor Peplow | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Grand Lake Mariners

  • Appeared in three games, making two starts. Has a 0-1 record and a 4.15 ERA. Fanned 14 hitters, giving up eight walks over 13 innings.
  • Pitched five innings, giving up five hits on three runs while striking out and walking three in a 4-1 loss at Hamilton on June 22.

John Rave | Cape Cod Baseball League | Chatham Anglers

  • Hitting .400/.516/.520 with a home run and five RBIs in 12 games.
  • Went 2-3 with a home run, RBI and a run scored in 3-3 tie vs. Hyannis on June 21.

Johnny Ray | Prospect League | Danville Dans

  • Appeared in six games with a 1-1 record, posting a 1.12 ERA over eight innings with eight strikeouts and three walks.
  • Pitched one and two-thirds innings of hitless baseball with a strikeout in a 10-6 win vs. Lafayette on June 18.

Anthony Sanchez | Prospect League | Lafayette Aviators

  • Batting .156 in 10 games with three doubles and a triple. Has scored twice while driving home four runs.
  • Went 0-4 with a RBI in a losing effort against Danville.

Michael Sebby | Northwoods League | Waterloo Bucks

  • Appeared in 11 games this year with a 0-1 record and a 9.25 ERA spanning 11.2 innings with 12 strikeouts and eight walks.
  • Pitched an inning, giving up two hits with two strikeouts and a walk in an 11-0 loss against Bismarck.

Paul Turelli | Chicago Suburban Baseball League | Crystal Lake Cardinals

  • Started two games this year with a 1-0 record and a 4.12 ERA spanning 10 innings. He has struck out six batters while walking three.
  • Went six innings, scattering three hits, one run, striking out six and walking one to win 4-2 against Addison on June 20.

Matt Walker | Northwoods League | Wisconsin Woodchucks

  • Appeared in four games, making three starts and posting a 0-3 record and a 7.04 ERA. Has nine strikeouts with six walks spanning 15.1 innings.
  • Went three and one-third innings, allowing two runs while fanning four batters and walking one in a 5-2 loss at Fond da Lac.
