CHEMNITZ, Germany - Elijah Clarance erupted for 27 points - the fifth most in a game in this FIBA tournament; however, his Swedish U20 National Team fell to Serbia, who is the fourth-ranked U20 team in the world.
Over his three games so far in the this tournament, Clarance has scored 66 points, averaging 22.0 per contest. He had previously tied a Swedish U20 National Team record with six steals in a game, and his nine games with the National Team (including friendlies) he has scored 202 points, an average of 22.4 points per game. That scoring average currently has him seventh in his country's history overall, and the highest in U20 history.
In the loss to Serbia, his 27 points came on 9-of-24 shooting from the field, and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. He pulled down four rebounds and dished out two assists with two steals and a block.
He currently leads the Swedish National Team in the FIBA tournament scoring (22.0 per game), assists (4.0 per game), and rebounds (5.7 per game), and is second in steals (1.7 per game). He is shooting 73.1 percent from the free throw line, and 37.5 percent overall from the field.
Sweden, which finished third in Group D, will have a rest day tomorrow before facing off against the second place team from Pool C (Germany, Israel, Romania, and Greece).
