CHEMNITZ, Germany - Behind a three-point barrage in the third quarter, the Greece U20 National Team topped Sweden's squad 77-64, despite rising Illinois State sophomore Elijah Clarance's game-high 21 points in 29 minutes of action.
Clarance scored his 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field while making 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. he also added five rebounds, two steals and an assist in the losing effort.
With his 21 points, Clarance scored 157 over the seven games of the tournament, ten more points than the next closest player, and one of two to average 20+ points a game ove the tournament (22.4 per game).
Clarance's scoring total is the highest scoring average in the tournament since 2015 when current Chicago Bull Lauri Markkanen averaged 24.9 points per game for Finland, and the third-highest since 2009, as Nikola Mirotic averaged a last 20 years-best 27.0 points per game in 2011 for Spain.
