Illinois State Falls to Oklahoma

The Redbirds (1-1-1) fell to Oklahoma (1-2-0) in a 7-1 decision on Friday night in Norman, Oklahoma. Oklahoma now leads the all-time series 2-0.

The Sooners got on the board early when sophomore Erika Yost found the back of the net on a cross from freshman Hailey Davidson at 9:36. Davidson later scored in the 21st minute. An own goal and a goal by senior Jordan Hobart would put the Sooners up 4-0 heading into halftime.

Redshirt junior Kaylee Dao scored a pair of goals, both headers, in the 58th and 61st minute. Oklahoma's final goal of the night came in the 77th minute by senior Emily Parker.

Illinois State senior Kiley Czerwinski tallied the lone goal for the Redbirds when she successfully converted a penalty kick in the 86th minute. Sophomore Sarah LaFayette drew the foul in the box that led to the penalty kick. It was Czerwinski's first goal of the 2018 season.

Junior goalkeeper Haley Smith spent the first half in goal for the Redbirds and collected four saves, bringing her total career saves to 174 and moving her up to fourth place in all-time saves in Redbird soccer history.

UP NEXT: Illinois State will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sunday to play Tulsa at 1 p.m.
