MUNCIE, IND. – Illinois State improved two places in the third round to finish in a tie for 10th place in the Cardinal Classic, held at the par-72, 6,204-yard Players Club Golf Course.
The third-round score was the best of the tournament for the Redbirds at 305, and the team had a final score of 928 (317-306-305) over the three rounds. Indianapolis topped the 16-team field with a 2-over-par 866 (292-282-292), 35 strokes ahead of second place Ball State and Southern Illinois.
Senior Caitlin Sims carded a 4-over-par 76 (37-39) in the final round with two birdies in the front nine, and her final score at the Cardinal Classic was a 226 (76-74-76) as she finished in a tie for 20th place. Junior Paige Seiser played a 2-over-par 74 (37-37) and caught two birdies in the third round. Seiser improved three spots to finish in a tie for 22nd place with a final score of 227 (78-75-74).
Improving three places in the last round, Becca Black finished in a tie for 58th place along with teammate Morgan Savage. Black carded a 5-over-par 77 (38-39) and recorded three birdies. The junior's final score finished at 238 (80-81-77). Savage had two birdies on the back nine, earning her a thir- round score of 78 (41-37), and she ended the tournament with a 238 (83-77-78). Sophomore Tatum King carded an 8-over-par 80 (40-40) in the third round for a tournament score of 248 (88-80-80).
