NORMAL, Ill. – Coming off an impressive road win over FBS foe Colorado State, the Illinois State football team now finds itself in the top 10 of both national FCS polls announced Monday.

The Redbirds (3-0) moved up seven spots from No. 16 to No. 9 in the STATS FCS Top 25 and five spots from No. 15 to No. 10 in the AFCA FCS Coaches' Top 25 poll.  A total of three Missouri Valley Football Conference teams are ranked in the STATS FCS Top 25 as North Dakota State (1), South Dakota State (3) and Illinois State (9) represent the league. UNI (No. 21/23) is the other MVFC program to appear in this week's polls, however eight teams are receiving votes.

The 3-0 start to the season is the second in a row for the Redbirds and the fourth since 2012.  ISU boasts the sixth-best scoring defense in the country (9.7 ppg) and currently ranks ninth in the FCS in scoring offense (43.0 ppg) and total offense (496 ypg). ISU opens MVFC play this Saturday, when it travels to Springfield, Missouri, to face Missouri State at Plaster Stadium beginning at 2 p.m.
