NORMAL, Ill. – Former Redbird Owen Miller is on the move again. Miller was drafted by the San Diego Padres with the 84th overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, and has been called up to the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
Miller started for the Padres Single-A short season team, Tri-City Dust Devils after being drafted. In August, Miller was assigned to the Fort Wayne TinCaps, the Single-A full season. Wednesday afternoon, Miller was called up again to the San Antonio Missions, the Padres Double-A Affiliate. Tonight, Miller is wearing number 23, playing shortstop and batting second for the Missions as they are on the road for the first game of the division finals against Corpus Christi in a best of five game series.
During his time at Illinois State, Miller earned All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team, named First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings, and named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week (5/14). He slashed .384/.433/.537 with the team's top batting average and a team-leading 88 hits which is the most in any season for a Redbird. Miller ranked second in the MVC in batting average and third in hits while he ranked 20th nationally in batting average, 17th in hits, and sixth in hits per game (1.69).

- Currently 3-3 with a 2.99 ERA in 19 starts with 80 strikeouts and 29 walks spanning 96.1 innings.
- Went five innings, giving up six hits, four runs, striking out one and one walk in a no decision versus the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers on September 1.
Ryan Court | Triple-A | Iowa Cubs (Chicago Cubs)
- Batting .262/.362/.407 with 21 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 62 RBIs and 50 runs.
- Went 0-for-2 with two walks in a 7-5 loss versus the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers on September 2.
Jeremy Rhoades | Triple-A | Salt Lake Bees (Los Angeles Angels)
- Owns a 6-4 record with four saves posting a 2.87 ERA in 40 appearances spanning 53.1 innings.
- Pitched one inning of relief giving up one hit and striking out two in a 7-6 loss vs the Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple-A Affiliate of the Houston Astros on September 3. Â
Eric Aguilera | Triple-A, Mexican League | Leones de Yucatan
- Batting .281/.330/.483 with six doubles, four home runs, 24 RBIs and 14 runs.
- Assigned to Leones de Yucatan on September 4.
Owen Miller | Double-A | San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres)
- Slashing .336/.368/.495 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 18 runs since being called up to Class A full season.
- Went 1-for-4 in a 2-1 loss at the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Class A-Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers on September 2.

- Pitched one inning allowing one hit and striking out one in a 3-1 win for a rehab assignment for the AZL Giants, the Rookie Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
Jean Ramirez | Rookie | Princeton Rays (Tampa Bay Rays)
- Appeared in 17 games with two doubles, home run, seven RBIs and six runs.
- Went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in an 8-5 victory versus the Greenville Reds, the Rookie-level Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds on August 29.
Jack Landwehr | Frontier League | Normal CornBelters
- Compiled an 8-3Â record with a 3.32Â ERA in 15 games with 14 starts with 61 strikeouts and 19 walks over 81.1 innings.
- Pitched two and two-thirds innings giving up three hits, one run, striking out one and walking one in a 5-4 loss versus the Florence Freedom on August 21.
