COLUMBIA, Mo.  – Behind a two-over par outing from senior Becca Black and a three-over finish from freshman Ali Schrock, the Illinois State Redbirds are in ninth placing heading into the third and final day of the 2019 Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri.
Missouri leads the field through two rounds with a three-over 579, while Oral Roberts is second at 10 strokes over par. Fresno State (+16), Northern Illinois (+22), Florida International (+22), Mercer (+27), Arkansas State (+27), and Florida Gulf Coast (+28) all stand ahead of the Redbirds' +29 score.
Black paced the team for a second consecutive round, carding a two-over 74 on a round which included three birdies and 10 pars overall. Her two-round score has her in a tie for 10th place in the field.
Five birdies from Schrock put the freshman with the most under par strokes on the team, as she also added seven pars to close her three-over 75 second round. Her nine-over 153 has her tied for 34th overall.
Tatum King carded a five-over 77 as her round included a birdie and 11 pars. Her two-round score of +7 has her firmly in a tie for 24th in the field.
With 11 pars and a birdie, senior Paige Seiser carded a six-over 78 on the second day of the tournament. She is tied for 47th overall at 11 strokes over par.
Rounding out the five Redbirds in the tournament was junior Emma Sutton who shot an 11-over 83 on the round. Sutton's 17-over two-round score has her tied for 67th overall in the tournament.
Illinois State returns to the course on Wednesday for the third and final day of the tournament.
