NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State volleyball team (9-6, 2-1 MVC) will continue its tough stretch of matches on the road this Friday, when it travels to I-74 rival Bradley (6-8, 2-1 MVC).
First serve between the Redbirds and the Braves is set for 6 p.m. Live stats and live video are both available for fans to follow along.
Easy as 1-2-3
For the second-straight year, the Redbirds opened Missouri Valley Conference play with a pair of sweeps against Missouri State and Southern Illinois. ISU's three-set win over the Bears marked the third-consecutive sweep of MSU, while the Redbirds have swept the Salukis in five of their last six outings against SIU. The Redbirds were only one of two teams in the league to sweep an opponent this weekend.
Monday Motivation
Illinois State played its first of two Monday night matches this season on the road at Evansville this week, falling in five sets. The Redbirds are 3-2 in Monday matches since the league introduced the initiative, which includes a win against the Aces. ISU has only dropped four matches to Evansville in program history and all four losses to the Aces have been on the road.
Protecting the Nest
The Redbirds continued to dominate at home, as more than 3,000 fans gathered at Redbird Arena last weekend to cheer ISU on to a pair of victories. ISU's total home attendance ranks in the top-30 in the nation this season, while the Redbirds have posted a .821 winning percentage on their home court in Leah Johnson's tenure. The Redbirds drew their second-largest crowd of the season – 2,270 – on Friday night against Missouri State.
