NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Director of Athletics Larry Lyons announced Tuesday that director of track and field/cross country Jeff Bovee has signed a two-year contract extension that runs through 2024.
"Jeff has built two programs to championship level, as both our men's and women's track and field/cross country programs are the class of the MVC," Lyons said. "We are confident in his ability to keep them performing at a high level."
Bovee enters his sixth year as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Illinois State and his 13th overall at ISU.
Over the past five years, Bovee has transformed Illinois State into a track powerhouse. This became evident in 2018, when the Redbirds' swept the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships for the first time since 1999. With the sweep, Bovee was not only named the MVC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year but garnered the title of USTFCCCA Men's Head Coach of the Year for the Midwest Region.
The Redbird track and field programs open the indoor season on Dec. 6 at the EIU Early Bird in Charleston, Illinois.
