NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbird volleyball team will play their final Monday match of the season tomorrow, when they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on the Sycamores. Monday's 4:30 p.m. CT contest will be the first of the season between Illinois State (13-10, 6-5 MVC) and Indiana State (5-17, 3-9 MVC). Â
Scouting the Opponent
Illinois State holds an impressive 63-8 series advantage over Indiana State, taking the last 10 meetings between the two programs, with seven of those matches resulting in straight-set wins. All eight of the Redbirds' losses to the Sycamores have been on the road, as Indiana State has never won a match at Redbird Arena. Indiana State enters Monday's match with a 3-9 mark in conference play, dropping a pair of matches on the road at Valparaiso and Loyola over the weekend.
Last Time Out
The Redbirds' comeback fell short on Friday night at Redbird Arena, as Illinois State battled back from being down 0-2 to I-74 rival Bradley before the Braves held on to take the match in five sets. Senior Monica Miller turned in a career-best 12 kills, while freshman Kendee Hilliard registered in a career-high eight kills as well. Kaity Weimerskirch collected a match-high 27 digs, while Sydney Holt continued to shine defensively with a match-leading six blocks.
What's Next
Illinois State will return home next weekend to host UNI and Drake on Friday and Saturday night, respectively. Both matches will be available on ESPN+ and live stats will be available to all fans for free.
