The Illinois State swimming and diving team will be traveling to Colombia, Missouri, this week to compete in the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Missouri State. The championship meet will be Feb. 20-23 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
Events begin Wednesday with the 200-yard medley relay, followed by the 800-yard freestyle. The event finals are set to begin at 6 p.m.
"As a team, we are very excited for MVC's this week," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "It has been a long season in which we have made a lot of improvements over the past six months, and I'm excited to see what this group can really do once they are fully rested. It's going to be an exciting and close meet, and we are looking forward to competing with all of the other teams in the conference."
"I am looking forward to a great championship against very high-level competition," head diving coach Phil Hoffmann added. "This is probably one of the deepest competitions I have seen in the Valley. I believe our divers are ready to compete with this intense field, and help achieve both team and personal goals."
