COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Redbirds resumed competition at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Colombia, Missouri, on Friday to sit in fifth place in the standings.
Kierston Farley-Sepe broke her third ISU school record of the weekend, breaking the record for the 100-yard butterfly, as she replaced the previous record time of 54.77 with a time of 54.70 in the preliminary round of the event.Â
The 400-yard medley relay team of Morgan Clark, Jensen Keck, Farley-Sepe, and Katie Tillotson broke a school record, clocking a time of 3:45.05, striking a third-place finish in the relay event. The previous record time for the event was held at 3:45.59.
"I'm very proud with how the team performed today," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "We had a lot of people really step up, both and prelims and then in finals, and find a way to move up in the placings.  The team showed a lot of heart tonight, and I'm very proud with how they are competing. We are set up very well for tomorrow, and I'm excited to see us finish strong."
A-Final
Competing in the A-Final, Farley-Sepe finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in a time of 54.84. Savannah Rubocki had a successful day in the pool, finishing fifth in the 400-yard IM and turning in a time of 4:25.57. Clocking a time of 1:54.88 in the 200-yard freestyle was Katie Tillotson, who finished eighth overall in this event. Jensen Keck turned in a time of 1:02.80 and a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
B-Final
Haley Rivera finished first-place in the 400-yard IM B-Final round, finishing with a time of 4:28.54. Jordan Peterson finished fifth in the event, turning in a time of 4:35.53. Liz Thull clocked a time of 57.76 in the 100-yard butterfly, with a seventh-place finish. Thull also competed in the 200-yard freestyle, turning in a second-place performance, tying for 10th overall, with a time of 1:54.21. Janise Everest competed in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing fourth and clocking a time of 1:06.33, while Morgan Clark won the B-Final of the 100-yard backstroke.
C-Final
Competing in the 100-yard butterfly, Maia Cain (58.48) and Sarah Hein (58.68) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Julia Oostman and Casey Balson competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and turned in a first- and seventh-place finish, respectively, clocking times of 1:06.88 and 1:07.67. Redbirds Julie Kolar and Maia Cain battled in the 100-yard backstroke, placing first and fifth, respectively, clocking times of 58.37 and 59.29. Lexie Hardewig turned in a time of 1:57.30 in the 200-yard freestyle event, with a fifth place finish.Â
