ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its 2019 Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete Team on Wednesday, following the conclusion of the 2018-19 competition season. Nine Illinois State student-athletes were highlighted on the list of Valley swimmers and divers.
Those individuals are: Molly Hill, Jensen Keck, Kari Balson, Jessica Nichols, Morgan Rosser, Savannah Rubocki, Rachel Rymer, Katie Tillotson and Jordan Peterson. Hill, Keck and Balson are three of 15 MVC student-athletes on the scholar-athlete squad who have maintained perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point averages (GPA) during their Redbird careers.
"We are very proud of the hard work that our student-athletes have put in, both the pool and the classroom," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "It is a great honor to be selected as a scholar-athlete, and we are excited that they have earned the right to be a part of this team."
To qualify for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one year at a Valley institution, while meeting one of the following criteria: own a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and obtain all-conference honors, holding a 3.5 GPA and top-16 finish in an individual event at the championship, or a boasting at least a 3.8 GPA and participate at the MVC Championships.
