ST LOUIS – Illinois State junior left fielder Jordan Libman has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Libman helped the Redbirds to a 4-1 record this week, starting all five games batting .667/.692/.778 during the weekend. The junior left fielder went 12-for-18 with two doubles, seven RBIs, six runs, and five walks.
In the two mid-week matchups at SEMO and SIUE, Libman went 5-for-7 with a double, three RBIs, and four runs scored in the two wins.
This weekend versus Central Michigan, he went 7-for-11 with a double, four RBIs, and two runs scored. In the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday, Libman was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. He drove in another run in game two as the Redbirds swept the Saturday doubleheader. In the series finale, he was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.
The Redbirds return to action tomorrow to take on the UIC Flames at Duffy Bass Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
