NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will travel to Omaha, Nebraska this weekend to face Creighton. The Redbirds will take on the Bluejays in a three-game series at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. Friday's game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with Saturday's contest set to begin at noon. The series finale will take place on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m.
Illinois State Redbirds (13-10)
Illinois State lost its mid-week matchup on Tuesday to the Milwaukee Panthers, 6-3. This is the first time dating back to last season that the Redbirds have lost four games in a row. Despite this, Illinois State remains in the top-50 in the nation with hits and scoring, as the Redbirds have collected 241 hits and score an average of seven runs per game which ranks 44th and 49th, respectively.
Creighton Bluejays (11-6)
Creighton comes into the matchup with a loss from its mid-week matchup with Nebraska, 6-3. Last weekend, the Bluejays swept Maryland in a three game series on the road. Creighton comes into the contest ranked 20th nationally in slugging percentage (.472) and 21st in stolen bases per game (2.12).
Series History
Creighton leads Illinois State in the all-time series with a 70-39 record. The two teams last played in 2018, with Creighton sweeping the Redbirds in a two-game series in Normal, 5-1 and 7-5. The series finale was cancelled.
