GREENVILLE, N.C. – Illinois State redshirt sophomore pitcher Jacob Gilmore has been added to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year midseason watch list.
The Bloomington, Illinois, native has appeared in 15 games this season for the Redbirds with a 2-1 record and a 3.05 ERA. Gilmore has recorded nine of the team's 10 saves this season in 20.2 innings pitched with 16 hits, allowing nine runs and seven earned runs, while walking 14 and striking out 28 batters.
The left-handed pitcher is tied for 16th in the nation in saves this season. There are 23 conferences represented on the list, but Gilmore is the only pitcher from the Missouri Valley Conference. The Stopper of the Year finalists will be announced June 5, with the winner announced on June 15.
