NORMAL, Ill. – Last week, passionate Redbird fans gathered to raise funds for women's athletics scholarships at Illinois State at the annual 'Bird Bash' inside Redbird Arena.
The event, which was presented by the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund (WSF) and Illinois State Athletics, recognized and celebrated the hard work and dedication of Redbird women student-athletes and raised funds to support their efforts. It was hosted by emcee Kendra Haselhorst, a 2002 Illinois State graduate who was a four-year star for the ISU volleyball team and a 2009 inductee into the Illinois State Athletics Percy Family Hall of Fame.
Over 400 loyal and generous Redbird fans were in attendance and were treated to food from Moe's Southwest Grill and beverages by Sodexo. When the final tally was added, over $45,000 was raised by those in attendance for women's athletics scholarships at ISU. Since 2006, the annual fundraising event has raised over half a million dollars for ISU women's athletics programs.Â
