NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State will take on Indiana State this afternoon in the eighth game of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament at 7 p.m. at Duffy Bass Field. Illinois State is ranked first in the MVC in hitting, leading the conference in batting average (.310) and hits (234). Meanwhile, Indiana State is ranked second in pitching with a team 3.77 ERA.
Illinois State Redbirds (33-22, 14-7 MVC)
The No. 2 seed Illinois State picked up its first conference tournament victory yesterday with a 4-1 win over No. 8 Southern Illinois. The Redbirds had two outstanding pitching performances from MVC Pitcher of the Year Brent Headrick and a Colton Johnson, who picked up the save.
Indiana State Sycamores (37-15, 13-8 MVC)
The No. 3 seed Indiana State got its first MVC tournament win yesterday over No. 4 Evansville. The Sycamores were led by third basemen Jake Means who hit a grand slam in the 7-0 victory. Means was tabbed as the MVC Defensive Player of the Year.

Illinois State trails Indiana State in the all-time series, 108-84. The Sycamores defeated the Redbirds in their conference series this season by outscoring the 'Birds 22-6.
