The Illinois State soccer team announced the 2019 promotional schedule for the upcoming season, as revealed Wednesday morning. The Redbirds, who finished 10-9-2 (4-3-0) during the 2018 campaign and ended their season in the MVC Soccer Championship semifinals, will play eight home events at Adelaide Street Field, including an exhibition match and three MVC contests.
Below is a full run down of events at Adelaide Street Field this fall. More information on individual promotions will be announced in the coming weeks.
Game Promotions
Saturday, August 10 vs. SIUE (Exh.) – 3 p.m. – Youth Soccer Day/100 Kids vs. Redbird Soccer
- First ISU athletic event of the year, featuring kids activities on the concourse and the opportunity to score a goal on Reggie Redbird at halftime
- Players will sign autographs for Illinois State fans
- Following the conclusion of the match, all kids are invited to play in a full-pitch scrimmage against the Illinois State soccer team
Friday, September 6 vs. Northern Illinois – 7 p.m. – Josh Rodgers Remembrance Night
- The Illinois State ROTC, veterans, and local heroes will be honored during the match
- Select students will compete in a halftime tug-o-war contest
Sunday, September 8 vs. Illinois – 6 p.m. – Pack the Pitch
- Illinois State fans will attempt to break the single-game attendance record of 1,085 fans at Adelaide Street Field, set in August 2012 at a 2OT 1-1 draw also against in-state rival Illinois
- Fans are encouraged to join in on a pregame tailgate, outside of Adelaide Street Field
- First 100 students in attendance will receive free t-shirts
Friday, September 13 vs. Utah State – 7 p.m. – Tackle Cancer with Illinois State Soccer
- Redbird soccer players will be decked out in pink uniforms to raise awareness
Sunday, September 15 vs. Western Illinois – 1 p.m. – Heidecke Day
- Former Redbird soccer players will be recognized on the field
- Players and alums will gather around the Julie Heidecke Tribute Tree at the entrance of Adelaide Street Field following the match for a ceremony to honor former soccer player Julie Heidecke and her father, Rich
- Student giveaway to be announced
Sunday, October 6 vs. Evansville – 1 p.m. – Senior Day
Thursday, October 31 vs. Drake – 4 p.m. – Halloween
- For the last match of the regular season, various Illinois State Athletics teams will have Trick or Treat stations set up on the concourse, promoting health, education and other treats
- Trick or treating is open the general public and all Redbird fans
