The Illinois State soccer team concluded their 2019 preseason schedule in Indianapolis on Wednesday evening, posting a 0-0 draw with Butler. The Redbirds have now not conceded goals in back-to-back preseason matches.
The Bulldogs, picked to finish second in the BIG EAST, outshot the 'Birds in regulation, 7-5, putting two shots on target.
Sophomore Hannah Mueller recorded two shots on the night, with Kate Del Fava, Alix McArthur and Ashley Santos each taking one of their own.
Senior goalkeeper Haley Smith started between the posts for the Redbirds and made two saves in her 70 minutes played. Jenny Scara and Priya Gillan both subbed on in goal, seeing 20 minutes of action each and helping maintain the shutout through extra time.
Redbird soccer opens the regular season on Friday, Aug. 23 on the road at Omaha.
