Game Recap: Soccer |

Illinois State Falls to Kansas City, 2-0

The Illinois State women's soccer team dropped their second match of season to Kansas City, 2-0, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Durwood Soccer Stadium in Kansas City. The Redbirds now move to 1-1-0 on the season and the Roos improve to 2-0-0.

"It was a tough loss on the road," said head coach Brad Silvey. "We played well enough to win but came up short in our attacking phases to break the score line. We also need to be more disciplined in our team and individual defending. Our effort was admirable but the details defined this game, and we simply weren't good enough on the day. I have no doubt we will grow from this and be better moving forward."

Kansas City freshman Lindsey Prokop put the Roos on the board in the 15th minute, scoring her first collegiate goal with the assist credited to Rylan Childers. Their second goal came as a result of an Amanda Sampson corner kick, with junior Liz Mann finishing with a header.

The Roos outshot the Redbirds, 9-8, placing eight of their nine shots on target. Senior Haley Smith had six saves in goal for Illinois State.

Smith, Megan McEachern, and Ashley Santos all played a full 90 minutes for the Illinois State.
