CHICAGO, Ill. – It was a quiet day in terms of adventure, but the biggest portion of the entire trip happened today – leaving for Italy. The Redbirds are on an 11-day (Aug. 7-17) foreign tour of Italy, where the squad will play three games and visit many world-famous historical sites.

The squad boarded the bus at Redbird Arena, made the journey to O'Hare International Airport, and after a delay, the traveling party boarded the plane for its destination.
"This is going to be a great experience because I've never been there before," said ISU senior Zach Copeland. "Getting used to the game-play internationally and getting used to all of the rules over there, it should be a great experience for the team and me. This gives us a chance to all build up off-court chemistry, as well as on-the-court chemistry. It will let us find out what we need to work on as we get back to the states. Being together as a team – going against another opponent – it will overall be a great experience for the team."
"The experience that I'm hoping to have is getting to go to different museums, trying new foods, and spending time with my teammates," said freshman guard Antonio Reeves. "This should help build team chemistry. I'm definitely looking forward to getting a chance to play together, going around and trying different foods."
Thursday is expected to start with a tour of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel.
