BURLINGTON, Iowa – The Illinois State women's golf team climbed three spots on the final day of the 2019 MVC Challenge, hosted by UNI at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.
The Redbirds carded a weekend-low 316 over the final round, giving ISU a three-round total of 960 for the weekend. UNI won the tournament with a total score of 942. Missouri State (950), Drake (950), and Southern Illinois (953) all finished ahead of ISU.
Leading the way for Illinois State was the pair of Tatum King and Emma Sutton, both of whom carded final-round 76 to close the tournament inside of the top-20 individually in the field.
King had a final-round 76 to put her into a tie for 11th overall in the field. Her final round consisted of 15 pars, two bogeys and a double-bogey. Sutton recorded three birdies in her final round to go with 10 pars to finish at 22 strokes over par and in a tie of 14th place individually.
Behind a nine-over par round from Becca Black, which included nine pars and a birdie, the senior ended the tournament at 22 strokes over par, which tied her at 14th place individually along with teammate Sutton.
Freshman Ali Schrock shot an 11-over 83 in her final round for the fourth-best score of the round for the Redbirds, as Jasmine Yi rounded out the Redbird scoring five with a 17-over 89.
Playing as an individual, senior Paige Seiser carded a final-round 84 (+12) including nine pars and a birdie, ending the tournament tied for 20th overall.
The Redbirds head back into action in a week as the squad competes at the Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by the Missouri Tigers.
