Volleyball Opens Four-Match Road Swing at Evansville Tonight

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State volleyball team (9-5, 2-0 MVC) will begin its challenge four-match road swing tonight when it travels to Evansville, Indiana, to take on the Purple Aces (10-3, 1-1 MVC). First serve between the Redbirds and Aces is set for 5 p.m. Live stats and live video are both available for fans to follow along.

Easy as 1-2-3

For the second-straight year, the Redbirds opened Missouri Valley Conference play with a pair of sweeps against Missouri State and Southern Illinois. ISU's three-set win over the Bears marked the third-consecutive sweep of MSU, while the Redbirds have swept the Salukis in five of their last six outings against SIU. The Redbirds were only one of two teams in the league to sweep an opponent this weekend.

Monday Motivation

Illinois State plays its first of two Monday night matches this season on the road at Evansville tonight. The Redbirds are 3-1 in Monday matches since the league introduced the initiative, which includes a win against the Purple Aces. ISU has only dropped three matches to Evansville in program history with the last setback occurring in 2010. Additionally, all three losses to the Purple Aces have been on the road.

Protecting the Nest

The Redbirds continued to dominate at home, as more than 3,000 fans gathered at Redbird Arena this weekend to cheer ISU on to a pair of victories. ISU's total home attendance ranks in the top-30 in the nation this season, while the Redbirds have posted a .821 winning percentage on their home court in Leah Johnson's tenure. The Redbirds drew their second-largest crowd of the season – 2,270 – on Friday night against Missouri State.
