Swimming & Diving Recognized with CSCAA Scholar All-America Award

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team was honored among the country's best academic programs, as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) included the Redbirds on its Scholar All-America list for the Fall 2019 semester.

Illinois State posted a team record cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.62 during the fall semester – the 13th-best among NCAA Division I women's swimming and diving programs – while 15 student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs.

"The team had a goal in place to beat their previous GPA record and they achieved that this fall," head coach Caitlin Hamilton expressed. "It is rewarding to see all of their hard work pay off and to be ranked so highly academically among Division I women's programs. It is an honor to be in the ranks of the teams around us and I know the women are striving to continuously be one of the best programs in the country academically."

A record 762 teams were recognized, representing 480 institutions across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions. The CSCAA honors teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Every team in the Missouri Valley Conference was represented on the list, as Illinois State posted the third-best GPA in the league.
