NORMAL, Ill. – As a way to give back to the community that supports them, Illinois State Athletics and the Millan | Petro Organization have teamed up for a new donation drive program titled Redbird Community Pride presented by McDonald's.
As part of this new initiative, fans will be able to drop off canned/dry good donations at Redbird Arena prior to every home men's basketball game and football game in 2021. Beginning with the Jan. 2 men's basketball game against Valparaiso, fans will be able to drop off donations in a minimal contact drive-through in the circle drive outside the North Entrance of Redbird Arena. All donations will benefit the School Street Food Pantry in Normal, which aims to be a consistent source of nutritious food and information for local college students who are experiencing food insecurity.
"As the community's local McDonald's operators, we wanted to find a way to continue to support the ISU family during these challenging times," Organization co-owner Jack Millan said. "This truly is about community and we are thrilled to be able to support this food drive."
Any fans that drop off a donation will receive a coupon for a McDonald's offer in return for their generosity. Donation collection times will vary by game, so fans should visit https://goredbirds.com/sports/2020/12/10/redbird-community-pride.aspx to find out collection times for each game and follow ISU Athletics social media channels for updates.
