NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State softball head coach Melinda Fischer announced on Monday that the Redbirds will be adding one more player to the roster for the 2022 season. Emma Hicks is a local utility player out of Illini Bluffs High School and is the younger sister of current Redbird freshman, Hanna Hicks.
"We are very excited to add Emma (Hicks) to our program," Fischer shared. "She has a tremendous upside and a great competitive spirit. Her defensive versatility will provide depth in several positions and she has one of the strongest arms we've had in our program. Emma will be a great addition to our Redbird family and joining her sister Hanna is a bonus."

Highlights: Four-sport athlete at Illini Bluffs High School (softball, basketball, volleyball, cross country) … Earned an all-conference selection in softball as a freshman … Helped her team finish second at state her sophomore season … Won three state titles with her travel ball softball team … Collected several tournament MVP honors … Member of the High Honor Roll for her success in the classroom … Named a Class of 2021 officer … Plans to major in elementary education with goals of becoming a teacher.
