TEMPE, Ariz. – The Illinois State softball team out-hit Boise State (RV), 8-4, on Saturday morning, but were unable to hand the Broncos' starting pitcher her first loss of the season in a 4-0 setback.

BY THE NUMBERS / KEY INNINGS
- Emme Olson registered ISU's first hit of the game in the first inning, while starting pitcher Amanda Fox and the Redbird defense sat the Broncos down in order in the opening frame.
- Boise State lifted a two-out, three-run home run to left field in the bottom of the second to break open the scoring.
- Dayna Kennedy stepped in to pinch hit in the fourth, delivering her second double of the season, while relief pitcher Mack Leonard kept Boise State from adding to its lead.
- The Redbirds loaded the bases in the sixth inning behind three singles from Olson, Andrea Coursey and Kennedy, but the Broncos fought off ISU's rally to keep the Redbirds off the board before walking in a run in the home half of the inning to take a 4-0 lead.
- Kaili Chval and Leonard each contributed a hit in the top of the seventh, but Boise State got the final two outs to take the win over ISU.
