BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois State Basketball Coaches Shows, featuring Illinois State head men's basketball coach Dan Muller and head women's basketball coach Kristen Gillespie will air tonight live from Hy-Vee Market Grille in Bloomington. Fans unable to attend the show can listen live on WJBC 1230-AM or on GoRedbirds.com, as Muller and Gillespie recap the past week of Missouri Valley Conference play and preview upcoming match-ups.
The Kristen Gillespie Show, hosted by Greg Halbleib, starts tonight at 6 p.m. Gillespie will be joined by fifth-year senior Lexi Wallen. Wallen is ranked second in scoring in the Valley, averaging 17.6 points per game while grabbing 6.5 boards per contest on the season. The Champaign, Illinois native is coming off a career weekend, in which she put up a career-best 35 points and seven rebounds in Friday's double overtime win over Loyola Chicago at Redbird Arena. The women's basketball team (14-9, 6-6 MVC) will make the Iowa road swing this weekend, traveling to UNI on Thursday and then to Drake on Saturday.
The Dan Muller Show follows at 7 p.m., hosted by Dick Luedke and Mike Matthews. Muller will be joined by freshman guard DJ Horne. Horne is coming off a week of double figure performances for the 'Birds, tallying 16 points at UNI and 14 points at home versus Valparaiso. The men's basketball team (8-18, 3-11 MVC) will play at Loyola Chicago on Wednesday before hosting Drake on Saturday at Redbird Arena at 3:30.
