TAMPA, Fla. – The Illinois State softball team (1-2) faced its second nationally-ranked opponent of the day on Friday night, falling 4-1 to No. 7/9 Florida in a pitcher's duel at the USF-Rawlings Invitational.

BY THE NUMBERS / KEY INNINGS
- Both of ISU's freshmen pitchers – Amanda Fox and Hannah Ross – made an appearance in the circle against the Gators.
- Mack Leonard hit a lead-off double, before Alyssa Wiebel knocked a two-out double into left center field to put the Redbirds on the board in the top of the first inning.
- Florida responded in the home half of the second, scratching four runs across on three hits.
- Illinois State's pitching staff gave up just one more hit in the final four innings, while two more Redbirds – Andrea Coursey and Emme Olson – contributed a hit in the second and sixth innings, respectively.

Illinois State will close out the USF-Rawlings Invitational tomorrow with contests against Fresno State (8:15 a.m. CT) and Georgia State (5:30 p.m. CT).
