CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Six members of the 2019-20 Illinois State women's golf team have been named as a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars. That list includes seniors Morgan Savage, Paige Seiser, and Becca Black, junior Emma Sutton, and freshmen Ali Schrock and Emma Rouger.
In all, 1,401 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar teams is a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
This season marks the fifth consecutive season where the women's golf program has put at least five golfers on the prestigious list.
Black, a native of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, averaged a team-best 75.7 strokes per round en route to being named to the All-MVC squad. She had three rounds at or under par and had a top-five finish during the year.
Rouger, from Saint-Cyr-Sur-Loire, France, averaged 77.2 strokes per round in her first season as a Redbird, including a season-best 73 at the Redbird Invitational.
Savage, from Rochester, Illinois, played in 13 rounds during the season and averaged 77.7 strokes per round. She carded a season-low 72 in the opening round of the Rio Verde Invitational to kick off the spring season, before closing the tournament with a two-over 74.
Schrock, a freshman from Pontiac, Illinois, played in all 19 rounds during the season for the Redbirds, averaging 78.2 strokes per round. Her season-low round came at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational where she also shot a second-round 75 in the tournament.
Sutton, from Adelaide, South Australia, averaged 79.6 strokes in her 17 rounds, including a one-under 71 in the opening round of the season at the Redbird Invitational, as she placed 20th at the event.
Seiser, a native of Waukee, Iowa, averaged 79.6 strokes per round, playing in all 19 rounds for the Redbirds this season. Her season-low came in the opening round of the Dayton Invitational, as she shot a 74 en route to placing 22nd of 84 total competitors at the event.
